Microsoft has officially announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. While devices running Windows 10 will continue to operate, they will no longer receive security updates, feature enhancements, or technical support from Microsoft. For business owners, this change has critical implications for security, compliance, and operational continuity.

After October 14^th, PCs still running Windows 10 will continue running, but they will be at greater risk for cyberattacks, as they will no longer receive patches for new vulnerabilities. This lack of protection could expose your business to serious risks.

Beyond security concerns, unsupported systems may create compliance challenges depending on your industry. Regulatory frameworks like HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and others often require up to date, supported software. Running an unsupported operating system could put your business out of compliance and at risk of penalties.

Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11 to maintain a secure and supported IT environment. For business owners with older systems or more complex infrastructure, Microsoft will also offer an Extended Security Updates (ESU) program—a paid option that provides critical security updates beyond the October 2025 deadline. However, this program does not include feature updates or ongoing technical support and should be considered a temporary solution while planning a full transition.
